Farm Information

Chiapas, where the Sierra Azul producers association is located, is a state in southeastern Mexico, bordering Guatemala and facing the Pacific Ocean. It is in a tropical savanna climate zone with clearly separated rainy and dry seasons and stable temperatures all year round.
Capitan Luis Ángel Vidal is a town located far from urban areas, at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,800 meters adjacent to a nature reserve. Coffee fields spread across the mountain slopes covered with lush forests that are home to a diverse range of wild birds.

Mexico is one of the world's leading producers of organic coffee, and the state of Chiapas is the largest in the country. The Sierra Azul Growers Association is an organization of 271 members that ships 240 tons of green coffee beans per year.
The steep mountains have large daily temperature differences, which allows for the production of high-quality coffee, and producers are committed to sustainable, organic cultivation. The bright red ripe cherries are hand-picked by the producers and delivered to Japan.

We at Fair Trade began working with the Sierra Azul producers' association in 2013. To help them continue to practice sustainable agriculture while adapting to climate change caused by global warming, we support the construction of agricultural training facilities and the holding of agricultural training courses, and continue to help producers develop their agricultural knowledge and skills.

Additionally, in order to improve the unstable income of coffee producers, which is heavily dependent on harvest volume, we have launched a beekeeping project as a secondary source of income and are providing support with the equipment and supplies necessary for beekeeping.

●Supporting fair trade in Mexico <br data-mce-fragment="1">By purchasing these beans, you are helping to support this cause.
In recent years, the effects of climate change have led to poor growth and widespread disease in coffee plants, forcing many producers to replant their coffee trees with unfamiliar varieties. As a result, as part of fair trade efforts, the funds are used to support the expansion of production of varieties that producers are particularly attached to, helping to ensure a stable and sustainable life for producers.
